Gooberfest & Halloween Party

Hey Mogul Mashers,

    The Ullr Fest/Halloween party was almost scratched due to the soggy conditions. Luckily it did stop raining about noontime on the appointed day of celebration and the faithful gathered as planned. There was good food, good drink, good costumes, a good bonfire, and good company. There were also some pretty good pumpkin carvers present. Mark Mabry did a clever job carving out the letters E.T.M.M. on one pumpkin while Michael Mabry sliced up a nice jack-o-lantern of his own. Dale Strother carved two or three for the front porch and everyone enjoyed the results.

    While not everyone attended in costume, there were several outstanding disguises present. Included were a witch doctor (Lisa B), a devil (Don S), a clown (Joan S), a faceless ghoul (Mark D), his monster bride (Beth D), "Woody" from Toy Story (Dale S), the undead young (Mabry children), a pair of hispanic "friends" (Mabry adults,aka the gay amigos), and electric head ( Robert B). There are some photos floating around so track them down and check them out.

    The Ullr Fest portion of the evening was also a lot of fun. After dark (and after food and continued drink) Dale built a toasty bonfire. That was quite an accomplishment, considering all the rain earlier that day. Anyway, we all gathered 'round, said our piece to Ullr the Norse demigod of winter, and made the appropriate sacrifices of old skis, gloves, helmets, scarves, goggles, and the like. Undergarment offerings were absent this year, but hopefully Ullr is satisfied so that once again we will all be able to enjoy a cold, snowy ski season.

If you weren't there, we missed you. Maybe Ullr did not notice!  Next year you and yours can join us and share the festivities. Thanks to Dale Strother for playing host again and providing the perfect setting for this annual event.
