And just when you thought you had made the best ski trip ever to Jackson Hole
along comes Alyeska…
21 Mashers made the long trek to
Alaska and returned on the Red Eye Saturday night from Anchorage, arriving
Sunday March 25th in TriCities and other nearby destinations.
The long trip was well worth it. A
spectacular experience was had by all. Skiing was the crown jewel, with powder
and packed powder and fresh snow for 5 days straight. The Alaskan protocol was
to start the lifts at 10:30 AM and run until 5:30PM, to correlate with the best
light this time of the year. (A most civilized practice, which fits well with
the Alyeska nightlife experience)
In addition to the skiing, there
were side trips to shopping places for souvenirs and other essentials, great
dining opportunities and several interesting side trips. There was a flight to
Denali, a Seward boat cruise, looking for whales and sea life, dogsledding and
snowmobiling, where glacial ice was found to be the preferred coolant for
refreshing adult beverages and all this was topped off by a great send off
party.
